General Information

The foundation Stichting/Fundacion "El Arco Iris" (Arco Iris= rainbow) has been founded on April 29, 1993 with the object to help children in need for support. More specific the foundation runs a children's home in Iquitos, Peru.

Our children's home lodges up to 40-45 children of between 4 and about 15 years, some of which are full orphan, but most of which stem from incomplete families.
The foundation wants to lodge the children until they are (about) 15 years. At that age they have to go back to their family, or, if that is not possible, we look for another family who is able and willing to lodge and take care for the boy or girl.

The staff of the home continues to follow and coach such child thereafter and if necessary the foundation continues to pay for the schoolfees etc, because we want in principle that all children complete the secondary school and/or follow practical courses to optimize their employment potential.
